Fall 2026

Rosebay Nursery - Celebrating 50 years

Greetings,

It’s hard to believe that Fall 2026 marks our 50th year!  There have been numerous changes over the years…testing many different varieties of Rhododendrons, fine tuning our growing system and lots of different chicken costumes for the trade shows.

It started in the fall of 1976 when Frank and I took cuttings of Rhododendrons from a friend’s collection and placed them in a Nearing  frame.  The following spring we bought liners from Pennsylvania and planted them in a cleared area between overgrown Christmas trees from the former property owner.  Through the years we’ve tested many varieties in different locations in the nursery – from deep shade to full sun, always in our sandy well drained soil with added pine bark.  Mistakes have been made but that’s how we learn.  It’s been a rewarding challenge.

This year we have large plants and small plants but not as many medium size plants as I’d like.  We are still suffering from our “pandemic-not sure what to do” situation.  There are good number of Pieris, Dwarf Korean Azaleas, April Dawn and smaller PJM.  The Baden-Baden are beautiful and thankfully lots of Roseum Elegans in landscape sizes.  We are growing Leucothoe now but won’t be ready until next fall.

Please take a look at our Availability List on this website and send in your order to Becky as soon as possible.  You may call, email or mail your wish list.  We will do our best to fill it.  And as always Rosie (RIP) has the last word, “Get your orders in early.  I don’t like freezing off my patootie trying to finish in the cold.”

All the best,
Linda, Becky, Lucci, Adan and the rest of the crew
